What can Balance Desk do without an account?

Everything except the three review lanes. The table is parsed, the column roles are detected, every stat is summarised, power and cost efficiency are scored, the full Pareto dominance comparison runs, the tier curve is measured, cost is regressed on power, drop weights are turned into probabilities and pull counts, the economy totals are computed and the BX flags are raised - all in your browser, with no account and no run. The CSV and Markdown exports are free too.

What is the power score, exactly?

Every numeric column that is not the name, tier, cost, rarity, drop weight or income is treated as a stat. Each stat is min-max scaled to 0..1 across the table, flipped where a smaller number is better - cooldown, cast time, reload, weight, recovery - and the scaled values are averaged. It is a within-table comparison and nothing more: it says an entry is stronger than its neighbours on the numbers you supplied, not that it feels strong in play. A stat where every entry has the same value contributes nothing rather than dividing by zero.

How is dead content proven rather than guessed?

By Pareto dominance. An entry is strictly dominated when some other entry is at least as good on every single stat, in that stat's own better direction, and costs the same or less, and is strictly better somewhere. That is a proof, not an opinion: there is no build in which the dominated entry is the correct pick. The free pass lists every dominated entry and who dominates it before any model runs.

What does the price fit tell me?

An ordinary least-squares line of cost on power, with R-squared and every entry's residual. A high R-squared means the shop prices actually track power - a player paying more is getting more. A low one means the price list is arbitrary. The residuals name the mispriced rows: an entry far below the line is underpriced for what it does, and an entry far above it is the row nobody buys.

Can a guest run a lane?

No. Running a lane is metered and this app does not sponsor guest runs, so a lane that is not a bundled replay needs a signed-in SkillSafe account. The exception is the bundled example: the roguelike weapon shop replays all three lanes in full, without signing in and without spending a credit.

Does my table get uploaded?

Not until you run a lane. The parse, the scoring, the dominance comparison, the regression, the drop arithmetic and every export happen in your browser. When you do run a lane, the table is sent for that one pass and nothing about it is stored anywhere except your own SkillSafe account history.

What are the three lanes?

Audit reads the power distribution, names the dead content and the auto-includes with the measurement that proves each one, judges the tier curve against the genre, and hands back a retune list of concrete numbers. Economy judges the price ladder, sorts the sinks from the faucets, prices the grind in the table's own income units, reads the drop table and reprices what is out of line. Playtest takes the raw notes from a session and turns every point into a claim settled as supported, contradicted, unsupported or no data against a measured number - and then lists the problems the table raises that nobody in the session mentioned.

What formats does it accept?

CSV, TSV, semicolon and pipe delimited text, a markdown table pasted straight out of a design document, a JSON array of entry objects, and a JSON object whose keys are entry names. Quoted fields with embedded commas are handled, and numbers written the way designers write them - 1,250 or 42% or $30 or 1.5x - are read as numbers. Drag and drop of a .csv, .tsv or .json file works too.
